I went on a chase with Beau, Donya and my girlfriend Vanessa southwest of
Norfolk, NE on Thursday. This was Vanessa's first storm chase. Overall it was a disappointing chase. Too much lift and not enough deep layer shear. Basically it was a big low and the whole area blew up with precip and it was a big rain-fest. We did have an exciting moment with Beau spotted an area of extreme rotation. I think we could consider this a funnel given the amount of rotation and fact that it was at an updraft base. The funnel was anti-cyclonic.
